Q. What is Formica Solid Surface?

A. Formica Solid Surface is a solid surfacing product composed of a mineral-filled (ATH) modified resin. It is available in both sheet stock and molded shapes such as lavatory bowls and kitchen sinks.

Q. Where can Formica Solid Surface be used?

A. Formica Solid Surface is ideally suited for domestic use in the kitchen and bathroom. It is also widely specified for a full range of uses in offices, banks, restaurants, hospitals, and other commercial applications.

Q. How durable is the finish of Formica Solid Surface? Is it hard to keep clean?

A. Formica Solid Surface is exceptionally easy to clean using ordinary soap and water or, for more stubborn discoloration, a mild household cleanser. Minor damage such as cigarette burns, scratches, and stubborn films may be removed with cleanser or an abrasive pad such as 3M Scotch-Brite brand #7447. More severe damage usually can be removed by carefully sanding with a fine abrasive paper.

Q. Is it possible to achieve custom placement of lavatory bowl location?

A. Yes. With the unique drop-in/undermount vanity bowl, placement on, in or under 1/2" (12.7mm) sheet stock yields unlimited design options.

Q. Can Formica Solid Surface be formed?

A. Radii can be machined, but thermoforming is not recommended or warrantied.

Q. What adhesives can be used with Formica Solid Surface?

A. Formica Solid Surface sheets and shapes can be joined together with a nearly invisible seam using either our conventional Seaming Compound or Seaming Cartridge.

Q. Is Formica Solid Surface fire-rated?

A. Formica Solid Surface sheets are all classified Class I(A).

Q. Can Formica Solid Surface be used in a food service area?

A. Yes. Formica Solid Surface is listed by NSF International under Standard 51.

Q. Is Formica Solid Surface color coordinated to other products?

A. Yes. All colors are coordinated with Formica brand products as well as various appliances and plumbing fixtures.

Q. Is Formica Solid Surface warrantied?

A. Yes. Subject to following recommended procedures, all Formica Solid Surface products carry a 10-year limited warranty against manufacturing defects.
